Sometimes there are things in life that are very obvious. In the medical billing world, this isn’t always the case. Many on the outside would automatically think that electronic billing of claims is the sure pick over sending paper claims via the United States Post Office. And while electronic billing certainly does have its advantages, is it really the be all and end all of medical billing? In this article, we’re going to take a good look at each method of sending claims. Sometimes the grass is greener but sometimes it isn’t.

Let’s take a look at the facts of each type of billing. With paper claims, you have to either manually fill out the claims by hand, especially if you’re a small office and can’t afford expensive software, or at best you need the software to fill out the claims as they are printed off your dot matrix or laser printer. Most software products for this industry don’t support Inkjet printing. For that matter, most carriers won’t accept anything but laser quality anyway.

Software Proposal

With paper claims, you also have the wait. Because insurance carriers are desperately trying to move on over to electronic billing, they process paper claims at a snails pace. It could be anywhere from 30 to 60 days to get paid on your paper claim. This is not a maybe. This is indeed a fact. Paper claims get paid slower.

Another fact of paper claims is that they carry the additional cost of having to keep forms in inventory. These forms are not cheap. Even if you get them included in your software package, the cost of billing a paper claim, at least on a per claim basis, is much higher than electronic transmissions.

Another fact of paper claims is that they have to be mailed. This adds the cost of postage to the already high cost of paper claim billing. Plus, with paper claim billing, there is always the chance that a claim can be lost in the mail. While this is not necessarily a given that it will happen, it is a definite possibility.

Now, let’s look at the facts of electronic billing. For starters, electronic medical billing is faster. The claims are literally transmitted to the insurance carrier in a matter of seconds, depending on how big the claim file is. Larger files do take longer, but for the most part, this is a much quicker process.

Electronically billed claims get paid faster. There is no question about this. Insurance carriers do this as an incentive for medical billing agencies to use electronic billing methods.

Electronic billing requires software and transmission hardware such as a modem or an Internet connection. This adds an expense to electronic billing that you don’t have with paper claims. This is a fact. There is no way to send claims electronically without some kind of software and transmission device.

Those are the facts of each. On the surface, it appears that electronic billing is the hands down choice. But before you make that decision, you must realize that unless you have a large enough client base to justify electronic billing, the cost of the software alone might make it unprofitable. Plus, with electronic billing, you’re going to have technical issues that you won’t have with paper claims, meaning you’re going to have to hire a networking staff and other technical persons.

The truth is, there is no perfect world with either paper claims or electronic transmission. So please consider all factors before deciding which way you’re going to go.

Writing a business proposal can seem like a daunting task. Where do I start? What do I need to say? How do I know if I’ve written a proposal that my customer will understand? Business proposals are an increasingly important aspect of any modern, professional business. With increasingly strict corporate regulations governing just about everything a business does, having a document that presents your unique business offering and everything that encapsulates can sometimes seem like an impossible task.

Thankfully, there are some simple steps you can follow to ensure your business proposal delivers the right results. What are they? time to take a closer look at our tried and testing method on how to write a business proposal that wins every time!

Software Proposal

The Golden Rule of 4 – The 4 word business proposal checklist

We can summarize our business proposal writing process using 4 words that form a simple checklist for your business proposal:

* Who?

* Why?

* What?

* How?

Pay attention to the order in which you address these 4 checklists. They are purposely ordered that way. Before you send a business proposal to the intended decision maker, please, please make sure you’ve asked yourself have you addressed these 4 simple questions. Let’s look at this in some more detail.

The Who Question

Quite simply, do you know your customer? Do you know what they really want? Or do you just think you know what to sell them. Remember, your customer has some problem they need a solution to. Are you really in tune with what that is? Does your proposal clearly define the business problem or opportunity you proposal to solve?

The Why Question

Why should the customer hire you? What differentiates you from the competition? Why Us? This is quite possibly the hardest question to answer in any business. We all face competition. Somebody somewhere will always claim to be in a position to compete with you and offer a better price or better quality end product. Why should you get the gig rather than your competitor?

The What Question

So now you’ve made sure you really know all about your prospective customer and you’ve been able to differentiate yourself from the competition. Good start! Now it’s time to tell them precisely WHAT you will deliver for them. When I sit down to write a business proposal, this is often the easiest part of the document to put together. We all know our own businesses better than anyone else. But be very careful, this is where you can easily fall down. Never ever assume your customer know’s anything about your business and what you do. This might sound stupid at first glance. But think about it. How much deep industry knowledge does your customer have about your business and what you do? How familiar are they with industry specific jargon? Do they really even know what the questions are that you have so eloquently answered in your proposal document. A golden rule of thumb I apply to my proposals is “Will my mother know what I’m talking about if I read this to her?” If my mom gets it, then my customer will. This might sound overly simplified, but don’t ever overestimate your target audience. Of course, there may be elements of your proposal where you are required to get into technical specifics but your summary should always read simple and clear to those who are unfamiliar with your industry. In this way, you will ensure your customer “gets it” from the outset.

The How Question

It’s vital to tell your customer HOW you will deliver on your promise. Who will be involved in delivering your product or service? Does the customer need to be involved? And if so, what will be expected of them? Depending on your business, a project plan may be of vital importance here so the customer can understand how their product/service will be delivered to them.

Wrapping it all up

So there you have it. This simple checklist will go a long way to ensuring your success when producing proposals to win new business. We never let a proposal out the door without making sure we’ve obeyed our Golden Rule of 4!

Until next time, happy proposal writing!

When holding business-related functions and events (such as a product launch or an industry lecture), your invitation letters matter. While it’s impossible to correctly predict how many recipients will actually show up, an enticing invitation should help the number of positive responses considerably.

Since this is a business affair, you invitation needs to reflect a certain level of professionalism while managing to excite your recipients’ imagination. How do you do it?

Software Proposal

1. Make it formal

Email is a great medium for sending out invitations but nothing says you’re serious more than a printed material. It adds minimal cost to the process, all while lending your invite a considerable amount of importance. When presented with two written matters, printed materials just beg to be attended to more urgently than a mass email.

2. Personal touch

The more personal touches you can include in your invitation, the better your chances of success. A simple “Dear Mr. Robert Altman,” for instance creates much more of an impact than a “Dear reader.”

3. Clean it up

Don’t ever send out invitations with any factual, vocabulary or grammar errors. Whether it’s getting the venue wrong or writing incomplete sentences, they both lead to the same result – not being taken seriously. Always proofread your copy for factual correctness and run it through a grammar software to ensure clear writing.

4. Have a clear agenda

The last thing anyone wants is to attend a function whose purpose is unclear. In your invitation, state what the affair is about in no uncertain terms, with a brief word on what they can both expect and stand to gain from it.

While installing or repairing “On Demand” features in Microsoft Office suite, error 193 0xc1 may occur in Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP. It may also occur while installing Microsoft.NET Framework or starting related services on your computer. In this article you will find steps which are helpful to fix this problem at ease.

First of all, let us understand the actual causes behind error 193 0xc1 in Windows 7, Vista and XP. The factors responsible for this error are as under:

Software Proposal

1. Corrupted Ose.exe File

AudioEndpointBuilder, Multimedia Class Scheduler

3. Under General tab, note down the Path to Executable.

4. Click OK when done.

5. Now, click Start, type RegEdit and press ENTER.

6. Locate the following registry location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

7. First, click MMCSS key and double click the ImagePath string. Replace the value with the Path to Executable that you just noted down in the Step 3.

8. Do the same for AudioEndPointBuilder. Click it, double click the ImagePath string and replace the value with the Path to Executable you have noted down.

9. Close Registry Editor.

Fix Error 193 0xc1 in Windows 7, Vista and XP

Getting error 193 0xc1? Download RegInOut here which is helpful to Fix Error 193 0xc1

If you are buying or replacing a personal computer, you may be wondering how you will be able to transfer all those expensive programs and games that you’ve been using on your old computer. Over time, computer users tend to accumulate a great deal of software from a variety of sources. You may have purchased your old computer already including software that you like, but unfortunately this software is not included with your new unit. Or you may have installed software from an online source or a disk that is no longer available. Whatever the reason, it is possible to transfer software from one computer to another. Here’s how:

Software Proposal

One of the most obvious ways to transfer software from one computer to another is to copy the software from the old computer to an external hard drive or flash drive. Before doing so, you will want to make sure that the drive has enough capacity to hold the software files so that you don’t lose any critical components when adding it to the new computer. You may want to use a web-based drive to store the programs as well for ease in accessing them to download them onto your new machine once this process is completed. This is the most time consuming of the methods.

Drag and drop method

If you have the ability to link the hard drives of each of your computers via USB cables, then the easiest way to transfer software from one computer to another is by doing so, then dragging the original downloaded software files from one hard drive to another. Be advised that if you have ever removed a portion of the software from the original computer, you may not be able to do this correctly. It’s best to get someone who’s experienced with computers to handle this process for you, if at all possible, to avoid any problems. You also will need to allow your new computer to upload each software file and then re-install it to the new machine, which will take time.

Software transferring application

There are several software transferring applications available on the market, such as ‘PC Mover’ that can find then copy all the software files from your old machine, then re-install them onto your new computer. This software can be attained relatively inexpensively, less than the cost of taking your computer to an IT support person to do this task. Once you have the software copied, then you will also benefit from having a permanent backup of the software in case of a system crash.

If done carefully, you can easily transfer software from one computer to another by using one or more of the options mentioned above. Be sure to consult with a qualified computer technician if you experience any problems or need additional help.

There are many different reasons why inventory management is so important in today’s world. One of them is being able to know exactly how many of each product you have in stock, so you know exactly how much needs to be ordered. Without proper inventory management, you may order too many of one thing, and not enough of something else. What does this translate too? Running out and having to order more, and having an over stock of other products, costing you not only money, but available storage space.

Proper inventory management also allows you to track the products you sell. You can see at a glance what items sell the most, what time of the year that more are sold, and have a chance to see what patterns develop so you can plan your buying accordingly. For an example, if you are a clothing merchandise store, and you find that you sell more coats and hats during the fall, just before Winter, or during the Spring, then you can order more of these items before then, so there is enough merchandise before hand. It also helps you track products that don’t sell as often, or at all, so you can either not order as much as your would routinely do, or maybe even decide to discontinue this product line altogether.

Software Proposal

Having the right inventory management software is just as important. Today, inventory has become streamlined, with bar codes, scanning devices, and computers, so you need software that keeps up with the latest technology. You need to be able to find out at a glance if you are running out of something, rather than going in the back or having to call the warehouse to find out. Your inventory managers need to be able to quickly and easily count how many items there are, and be able to scan the bar code and have it downloaded into the computer automatically, without having to physically write down the information and then input it into their inventory computer.

Inventory management is vital to today’s businesses, especially in the retail market. In order to keep up with sales, trends, and popularity of a certain product, or line of products, the only way to do this is if you can track what sells, how much does at certain times of the year, and what products are losing ground. This really is the only way to keep up with your competition, order the right amount at the right time, and know whether to eliminate products that just aren’t selling, saving you space, time, and money.

There are an abundance of different kinds of inventory management software available on the market. These are compatible with just about any type of computer operating system you have. Not all software is the same, so you really have to take the time and make sure that it is right for your needs, and for those people who are starting off small, will be able to expand and grow as you do, without having to buy new software all the time.

A fixed meeting agenda format is hard to find. Also, it is not recommended that you use a stereotyped agenda structure for your meeting. That is because your meeting might need a different kind of agenda than what is prescribed in the format. So, open your mind and be flexible. There is really no need to stick to a hidebound format that is not tailor-made to suit your needs. If you do not stick stubbornly to a redundant and rigid format, I assure you that you shall do much better. You shall be able to generate relevant and useful conference agenda that will make your conference a whopping success!

A Quack’s Prescription

Software Proposal

Most meeting or conference agenda formats tend to sap a meeting organizer’s creativity. A meeting or conference agenda format urges you to formulate your meeting agenda according to a strict and invariable pattern, which might be totally irrelevant for you and your company. The makers of most conference agenda formats think that they have done a wonderful thing by devising one solution for all companies, one medicine for all patients. The fallacy in their thinking is pretty self-evident. There cannot be one single cure for the maladies of different organizations or even for that matter, for the different maladies that ail one particular organization. So, a standardized format is not only useless, it can also be harmful as it tries to offer blanket solutions for diverse issues that require individual attention and separate treatment.

A Specialist’s Touch

However, there are some meeting agenda formats that offer customized solutions to the process of agenda framing. These formats are based on a broad framework of topics, most of which apply to and are valid for all meetings. Fortunately, such conference agenda formats also make way for variations and deviations peculiar to each company and each meeting. Despite following a structured approach, such meeting agenda structures give enough scope to managers to lay down meeting agenda as per the particular needs of their companies. These meeting or conference agenda formats are not sheets of paper charting out a course but consist of sophisticated software to help company managers to plan for events and in the task of goal setting. They are an integral part of high-end meeting planning software that facilitates event planning and management and makes the job of managers easier.

The Choice is Yours

Modern meeting planning software is made using state-of-the-art technology and helps managers to plan and organize meetings in a jiffy. From helping you to write meeting agenda to prompting you to deliver the valedictory, they are capable of transforming you into an expert in the meeting management and event management processes. They are equipped with meeting or conference agenda formats that aid managers to set meeting agenda. However, you have to be careful in choosing a meeting planning software. Most of them cannot keep their users’ data secure even if they guarantee information security. So, make a judicious choice. Selecting the wrong meeting planning software will cause you endless sorrow as your confidential company information will be hacked into and publicly distributed. But if you select the right meeting planning software, there will be no end to the rich dividends that you will receive. Sky will be your limit if you use the right meeting planning software with its right meeting agenda format.

The first thing that hits you as unique about Evolv Health is their website, its trendy, its hip (all the executives in bluejeans with shirts not tucked in), and it’s actually probably one of the best designed MLM company websites I have seen in years.

Now of course that is not going to make one bit of difference in determining if this company makes it or not but it does give a very good first impression.

Software Proposal

EvolvHealth jumped into MLM industry in late 2009 as the brain child of Trey White a young Texas real estate entrepreneur that made some huge bucks off apparently developing some innovative search engine software for the real estate market and then parlaying that into a stake in a company called Homebuilder.com that later went public.

Trey apparently then founded a company called White Ventures and went looking for a home for his money.

He has stayed primarily in the real estate market but in 2009 decided to jump into the MLM industry and start EvolvHealth.

Now EvolvHealth is one of a long line of companies in the MLM industry that have been started by some pretty high powered traditional business people some of them even billionaires.

It is of course the bringing of that heavyweight business background to the table that gives these companies some strong appeal, however it’s also good to remember that the MLM industry is very different than traditional business and to date I have not seen any of the billionaire backed companies hit a major home run.

Now the company’s product link all revolves around a key ingredient called “Archaea Active”.

Now Archaea Active was developed by a company called Health2o, and according to the company website has “been scientifically shown to support both a healthy inflammatory response in the body and optimal oxygen utilization of the blood at the cellular level, assisting with increased stamina, energy and endurance”.

EvolvHealth has only two products, EvolvWater which is a bottled water containing the key ingredient which sells for a case and Evolv Gel which is a trans-dermal application of the same key ingredient.

Now I have always been in awe of the bottled water industry where you can take a product that costs virtually nothing and sell it for a dollar a bottle.

Pure genius!

Now here is a business model that even puts that to shame, EvolvWater is .29 a bottle at distributor cost. Now of course this is not just water according to EvolvHealth it’s more of a nutraceutical product.

The EvolvHealth compensation plan is a fairly standard Hybrid Binary, similar to the ones used but companies like MonaVie and eXfuze, where you get paid once set of MLM commissions based on the binary structure and one set of commissions based on a unilevel MLM structure.

The MLM binary commission is generated when you build a 2 leg organization and get paid up to 12.5% on the volume of the lesser leg with no limitation on depth but with a cap or limitation on the total dollar amount of weekly payout you can receive.

The Hybrid part of the compensation plan uses a unilevel structure to pay you additional bonuses on your Executive level team regardless of where they are in the binary, and allows you to receive a matching percentage of their actual checks subject of course to bonus pool limitations.

The website lists their various compensation plans as Retail and Preferred Customer Bonus, Business Builder Bonus, Fast Start Bonus, Weekly Binary Bonus, Personal Check Match Bonus, Executive Check Match Bonus, Rank Advancement Bonus, Matching Executive Director Bonus, Evolv DNA coded bonus, and the Benz and Bentley Car Bonus.

In the final analysis EvolvHealth looks to be well funded, has some unique products, and a time tested compensation plan but it’s hard to say what the future will hold for this MLM company.

One final note here is the EvolvHealth in January of 2011 did announce a proposed merger with Xowii another startup MLM company that came into the market about the same time.

Now mergers in the MLM industry regardless of how the company spins them usually indicate that one of the companies is having problems. It does appear that the EvolvHealth is the stronger company in this merger but it will be interesting to see how they merge the organizations together and what the future holds for this company.

EvolvHealth Review – Bottled Water Goes MLM? What’s Next?

Marc Barrett is a recognized top MLM Marketing expert. He has been awarded “Millionaires Circle” designation, served on advisory boards of several large MLM companies, and authored multiple MLM Marketing training programs.

The Business Development (BD) process in Government Contracting relates to the identification of suitable contracts and preparation of proposals in response to Government solicitations for these contracts. It typically consists of five separate and distinct phases:

The PositioningPhase (tied to the company’s Business and Strategic Plans), where the company decides on the direction they want to take to increase market share.
The PursuitPhase, where the overall Marketing Plan is developed and then separated into the accounts that will identify individual targets to pursue

The ProposalPhase, where the response to the RFP is prepared

The Post SubmissionPhase, where clarifications, proposal modifications and negotiations (if any) are prepared

The OperationsPhase, where the contract is mobilized for Phase-in, if won – or lessons learned from the Government’s debrief is collected, if lost

Software Proposal

One important aspect of the BD process is that it is most effective as a closed-loop system, in which the Operations Phase information feeds into the Positioning Phase for an ever-changing system that quickly reacts to changing conditions in the marketplace. This is often referred to as the BD Lifecycle.

Many separate workgroups or business units support the BD process, from corporate management to the operations staff to production personnel and administrative staff inside the company, to third party Subject Matter Experts (SME) or professional proposal preparation personnel like those provided by third party consulting firms.

Positioning PhaseSome of the tasks performed during the major phases of the BD process include:

Defining the company’s direction

Using data from the Marketing Plan, establish target selection criteria and prioritize targets

Forming strategic alliances with other companies that can make good teaming partners that will lead to expanding the company’s resume in new markets

Analyze the gaps between where the company is today, and where the company needs to be, what it needs to have, etc to meet the projected goals

Establish the various Lines of Business (LOB) and develop the account plans (by customer, region, etc) to support the LOBs

Establish the necessary overall Bid and Proposal (B&P) budgets to support the accounts

Pursuit Phase

Establish and develop the Capture Plans for targets identified within the Account Plans

Develop an understanding of each individual customers’ needs and articulate these in each Capture Plan

Establish a customer Call Plan and meet with them to discover gaps and present solutions

Locate Key Personnel suitable for the job

Locate required subcontractors to fill niche task requirements or small business subcontracting goals

Locate and commit one or more “guy on the ground” that understands details that may not be disclosed during the procurement cycle (make sure he does not have a conflict of interest!) Redact all of the information into a Bid/No Bid document for analysis

Proposal Phase

Hold strategy sessions and discuss all known information, and discover any final gaps

Develop the Concept of Operation (CONOPS)

Refine and finalize the B&P budget

Mobilize the Proposal and Cost Teams

Attend the Site Visit/Pre-proposal conference

Conduct Final Bid/No Bid for Management

Prepare, refine, produce, and deliver proposal

Post Submission Phase

Follow up to client

Orals Presentation if required

Archive working proposal documents into library

Respond to Questions/clarifications from customer

Revise proposal as needed

Operations Phase

Mobilize for Contract Phase-in

Negotiate contract modification as needed

Develop lessons learned (entire team)

Collect and archive contract performance data for future proposals

This is just a simple list of some of the major tasks performed during the process, there are many other sub-tasks that must be performed to accomplish these, and there are many opportunities to do them incorrectly. This is often frustrating for companies, as they are unable to understand why they’re not experiencing the success they believe they should have, or that their competition has, because they are dutifully performing each step of the process.

What’s important here is that merely performing the step is not the same as performing it correctly. Another dynamic of this is that it can be difficult to admit that sometimes we need help, or it could be that upper management would take a dim view of our abilities if we asked for outside help with our internal processes.

Additionally, many large (and some small) companies need help, but don’t know they need it (or in extreme cases, are too arrogant to admit it). This is normally characterized by a high turnover of business development personnel as they struggle in vain to be successful using a broken process.

The 5 Phases of Business Development

Mr. James Movich has over 30 years experience initiating business development departments and proposal operations. He is exceptionally skilled in sales strategy, proposal strategy, win strategy and cost strategy development. He has utilized a variety of the sales and proposal development methodologies (such as GO, LORE, and Carew) and applied his own methodologies gleaned from his experience for the benefit of his and his clients’ success. Mr. Movich has started new-venture business development and proposal operations for major companies and small companies alike. He has held leadership roles to evaluate, organize, revise, organizations, processes, and departments for management and development of business development activities resulting in government service contracts for KBR, DynCorp, PA&E, Raytheon, Fluor, ITT, First Support and others. He understands government acquisition processes and how to prepare a winning proposal.
